Hi Reine,
I'm not sure how long the microwave sugar wax takes to cool.
And that's because the microwave bowl you used to make it would stay hot for a while.
But once you get your sugar wax out of the microwave, keep stirring it. Please wear oven mitts.
As the wax cools, it gets thicker.
When it gets to the point where you have to force it with the spoon, that's when you can touch it.
But have a bowl of cold water on the side.
So when you touch the wax, and it's still hot, you can quickly dip your hand in cold water.
Once your microwave bowl is warm enough to touch, your wax is almost cool.
Maybe 15 to 20 minutes at most.
I hope this helps.

In reply to <a href="https://www.skinoverload.com/microwave-sugar-wax/#comment-142">Shelley</a>.

Hi Shelley,
This microwave sugar wax is supposed to be thick and does not require waxing strips.
I'm not sure why yours came out runny. But you can add more sugar to make it thicker.
Here's what I'd do if my wax is too runny:
Add half a cup of sugar and a teaspoon of water to a microwave-safe bowl and heat it until it is melted and syrupy but not brown yet.
Then I'd pour it into the runny batch, and cook for a few minutes.
Keep your eyes on it, take it out, and stir every 10 to 30 seconds, to make sure it's not burning.
Once both old and new are well incorporated, bring the wax out of the microwave, place it on a dry folded dishcloth and keep stirring until it cools.
This should thicken it up.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if it worked for you. If not, just make it on a stovetop with this <a href="https://www.skinoverload.com/homemade-hard-sugar-wax-hair-removal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">hard sugar wax recipe</a>.

Hi thanks for the recipe, is the wax supposed to be thin? After it cooled completely, I found it to be too running to use without a strip on top. Is this wax supposed to be used with strips or did I do something wrong. How do I make it thicker?

Hi Nicole,
It should be enough to wax both legs because you'd be using the ball of sugar wax over and over until you can't use it anymore.
But to be on the safe side, you can double the recipe.
I hope this helps.
