Bundling on Mercari means shipping several items a buyer purchases from your store as one sale.
So instead of paying the separate shipping on each item, they’ll pay just one.
Mercari bundling is sometimes called combined shipping.
If a buyer asks for combined shipping, they’re referring to bundling.
And a buyer can create a bundle from your store using the Mercari cart.
Or they’ll chat you on each item they want, and you’ll create the bundle for them.
Bundlign on Mercari is similar to Poshmark.
But the difference about Poshmark bundles and mercari’s is that Poshmark sellers offer automatic discount on bundles.
While Mercari sellers can choose to offer a discount on bundles or not.

How to bundle on Mercari as a seller
Once a buyer has picked the items they want to bundle, follow the steps below.
- Create a new listing
- Or edit and update an existing listing with pictures of the items the customer wants to buy.
- Add the cost of the items and make that the new listing price.
- Don’t forget to add the discount. That is if you give discounts on bundles.
- Name the new or updated listing with your buyer’s name. For example, a bundle for Bree.
- Update the shipping cost, if needed, because some bundles are heavy.
- Deactivate the listings you added to the bundle so other buyers can’t buy them. Since they are not available for sale.
- Next, let the buyer know that you have created the bundle. So they can pay for it.
- Then ship the items.
- Only delete the deactivated listings after your buyer accepts the order and rates you.

How to request a bundle as a Mercari buyer
Some sellers don’t do bundles, but most do.
And the ones that do bundles usually mention that they do combined shipping.
So let’s pretend this seller sells bundles.
To request a bundle as a buyer, here’s what you should do:
- Send the seller a message that you want to buy several items.
- Then send them a message on every item you want in the bundle.
- And ask if you’ll get a discount and wait for their reply.
- Once the seller makes the bundle, they’d inform you. Then you can pay for it.
- But if you’re not sure they sell bundles, then send a chat asking if they do and can make one for you.
- If they say yes, then do the same thing I mentioned above.
- Send a simple chat “this” on each item, so they know what you want to buy.
- And the seller would combine everything and ship them.

How to bundle on Mercari after purchase
Let’s say a customer bought several things form you, and paid shipping on each item.
Then they realized they can can get a better deal from bundling.
Here’s how to make a bundle for a buyer after purchase:
- Ask the buyer to cancel the order.
- And the reason would be “for bundling” or “buying bundles”, something like that.
- Then Mercari would send you a cancellation request, you’d accept, and the buyer cancels the order.
- After that, make a bundle for the buyer.
- Now I understand that canceling orders is not fun.
- And that’s because Mercari flags accounts that cancel orders a lot.
- But the cancellation won’t be on you as you didn’t request to cancel.
- And your account won’t be flagged.
- Anyway, if a buyer asks for bundling after purchasing, you can ask them to cancel instead.
- And all you have to do is accept their request for cancellation.
Things to Remember When Bundling Items For Buyers on Mercari
- Make sure you deactivate the listings that you added to the bundle
- Update the listing price with the new total.
- Make sure to add the pictures of all the items to the bundle listing. Just in case.
- Let your buyer know that the shipping cost may go higher because of the weight of the bundle.
- But if you offered free shipping from the get-go, then you can’t charge the buyer for shipping a bundle.
- Make sure to rename the listing with your customer’s name.
- Inform your customer that you have created the bundle so that they can pay right away.
- Print your shipping label, pack, and ship the order. VOILA!

What happens if I created a bundle for my customer, perhaps deducted additional 15% bundling discount and then they (the custie) abandons the bundle? Do I need to totally relist the listing and do it over again? And price it back up so I can offer to likers and not lose Money.

Hi Fiona. Yes, you can relist the items again.
I think a better way is to just create a whole new listing for the bundle with all or a few pictures of the items and the total price after your discount.
Then deactivate the listings you added to the bundle.
After the customer has paid for the bundle, only then should you delete the original listings.
This will save you the time of relisting when they(the custie) abandon the bundle.
And yes, of course, you can still send offers to likers. That’s why you shouldn’t delete the listings just yet.

Brand new to selling on Mercari…I get your concept of bundling here as I sell on Poshmark and familiar with that process. My question is once you do the bundle listing, how do you notify customer if you do all bundled items in a new listing? And if you add pictures to one of the listings they liked and update the price for the bundle and offer a private discount will Mercari send the offer bc now you’ve changed pricing so how does Mercari know you lowered the price bc now the bundle price is much higher than the original price of the one item? I guess I’m getting lost with the “inform” your customer part. Thanks!

On Mercari, a customer will always message you to create a bundle for them. You can either update an existing listing with all the other items your customer picked or just create a new listing and name it “bundle for Bree(put in your customer’s name)”. Then you can message them that you have updated the bundle. You don’t have to send an offer to them.

i had a customer recently purchase 2 items from my shop and didn’t mention to me about bundling. I offer free shipping so I had to purchase labels twice for this. What do I do when this happens?

What you can do is message the customer and tell them to cancel the order so that you can create a bundle for them.
I’m sure they would not want their order in two different packages too.
They will now tell Mercari they want to cancel and the reason would be that they want a bundle.
Then Mercari would send you a message that your customer wants to cancel the order, and you should accept it.
Make sure to stay with your phone so that you can quickly accept the cancellation, and then you create the bundle.
Add the free shipping.
Now message your customer that the bundle has been created so that they can pay for it.

Hi there. Thanks for this information. I have had a couple of instances where a customer has made themselves a bundle but only put one item in it and then I don’t hear anything from them. Are they expecting me to do something or are they just using the bundle option as a shopping cart that they abandon?

If a customer adds your listing to their shopping cart, they are just saving it for later.
They may or may never purchase it.
But a customer that really wants a bundle would chat you up to create a bundle for them.

Hi, what if a custom buys a bunch of items like 8 then the next morning asks me to bundle? Do I have to cancel them all? As I’ve had warnings for cancelling too much before…
Hi Tiff. If your customer has already bought stuff and now wants a bundle, you can tell them to cancel the order. Then if Mercari asks her why, she would say because she wants to bundle. Just make sure you are with your phone, so that you can accept the cancelation and create the bundle afterwards. That way the cancelation wouldn’t be on you, of which it is for good reason. I hope this is clear.
Does this also apply if the person went ahead and purchased the items? Can i still deactivate items and create new bundle listing?
Hi Nilda, if a buyer has purchased the items, message them to ask if they want a bundle. They would likely say “yes” because they want to receive everything in one box. Then ask them to cancel the orders, so that you can combine the shipping for them. Once the order is canceled, the “sold” sign would disappear. Hi Heather. This is a funny situation.
Okay, you can message the first buyer that the item is no longer available, then cancel the order. Then create a bundle for the second customer.
The only problem is that after several cancelations, Mercari will flag your store as a seller that always cancels orders.

I purchased multiple items from the same seller who offered free shipping. She never asked me to cancel my order so that she could create a bundle. She shipped everything together and now it’s not letting me rate each individual item/listing. It will only let me rate one listing. Do you know what I can do as the buyer to be able to rate each item? Mercari doesn’t have a way to contact a customer service agent to get things taken care of right away which is really frustrating.

I understand your frustration. Mercari customer service can be annoying.
What you can do is rate all the things you bought in that single listing. Then message the seller and let them know the situation. So they’d understand you’re not just taking your time to rate, that the problem is from Mercari.

If the buyer already purchased an item and now wants to add something else to make a bundle, tell them to cancel from their end. That way the cancellation won’t be on your side, and your account won’t be flagged. Besides, if you cancel, and your reason is for creating bundles, then your account won’t be flagged that you cancel a lot. So you can go ahead and cancel and create a bundle for the buyer, or tell the customer to cancel and their reason would be “buying bundle”, something like that.

When buyer wants to bundle more than 12 items,(as in trading cards) what to do because only 12 photos are allowed- Also, I can see why some buyers don’t want to bundle because if I sell 24 cards to a satisfied buyer I would get 24 5 star ratings- If I bundle them I get only 1 5 star rating?

I’m not sure why Mercari flags your ads.
Write it in your profile and the listing ad if you sell bundles.
Don’t tell buyers to come to other marketplaces; it would get you flagged.
Also, if you add a listing with a ridiculous price and ask buyers to contact you for the price, your ad will be flagged.
