How To Make DIY Kiwi Sugar Scrub
Whenever I search Pinterest for homemade skincare inspiration, scrubs especially, I always bump into a DIY kiwi sugar scrub.
The scrub is exciting and pretty, so I promised to make it whenever I have kiwis.
Luckily I got a couple of them recently and created the amazing kiwi sugar scrub.
And used it the same day because fruit scrubs have short shelf lives even when stored in the fridge.
You want to use them freshly prepared without any germs or contamination.
That way, you’re sure you are using a good quality product and getting the utmost benefits.
Additionally, I’ve made it a duty to try any DIY skincare product I make before sharing them with you.
So I can give you an honest opinion or review.
I must tell you that I have tried every DIY scrub and mask I published on this blog.
Except for the few guest posts.
Now let’s dive in.
How To Make A DIY Kiwi Sugar Scrub
To make this all-natural kiwi sugar scrub, you need only two ingredients:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of sugar,
- 1 kiwi fruit blended (use only two tablespoons of kiwi or double the quantity of the sugar), and
- a container or glass jar to store your finished product.
Instructions
- Peel your kiwi, and blend it into a puree.
- Then scoop out two tablespoons of the kiwi puree and mix it with the sugar.
- Next, scoop your DIY kiwi sugar scrub into a container with an air-tight lid.
- Make sure to use this homemade fruit scrub within a day to enjoy its freshness.
How to use your homemade kiwi sugar scrub
This exfoliant, like others, should be applied to clean skin.
So remember to wash your skin before exfoliating with any scrub to get the most benefits.
Rinse your skin thoroughly if you feel any discomfort or ting while using it.
And make sure to follow with a light moisturizer.

My experience during the use of the homemade kiwi sugar scrub
This DIY kiwi sugar scrub is not the most pleasant homemade exfoliant I have tried.
After a warm shower, I scooped a generous amount of the scrub and started applying it to my neck and shoulders.
Within a minute, I felt a sting on my neck, which I ignored.
And I continued using the scrub all over my body.
While exfoliating, my inner elbows started itching and caused me lots of discomfort.
Usually, I would wait a few minutes after skin exfoliation before rinsing off the product.
But that wasn’t the case with this scrub.
I rinsed it off immediately and used moisturizer to prevent drying.
Anyway, that’s my experience with the homemade kiwi sugar scrub.
Now, this doesn’t mean the scrub is horrible.
However, it is possible my skin cannot stand kiwi fruit, but my mouth still can. *tongue out*.
You may have a different or similar experience with the scrub.
Just know that skin types differ.
On that note, before you use any DIY skincare product, test a small portion first, and make your judgment.

Will I try this scrub again?
I can’t say for sure, but I’d continue using the ones my skin loves.
Not all DIY sugar or salt scrubs will work for everyone, and I have finally found one my skin is uncomfortable with.
