It is unusual to have chin hair as a woman in this world.

Because women were not made to grow chin hair naturally.

The backlash from friends, family, colleagues, etc., can destroy your self-esteem.

And make you insecure for life.

But this post will show you how I deal with female chin hair.

And also tips to remove or control the growth of chin hair.

Let’s begin.

My story about growing and dealing with female chin hair

I was 18 going on 19 when I first noticed a strand of hair on my chin.

Which I pulled out.

And that was the beginning of an unusual facial routine added to my life.

The chin hair grew back with an extra hair.

And I plucked it off again.

And it grew back with another one.

The more I picked on it, the more it multiplied all over my chin.

Then I finally got the memo at this point.

And stopped pulling it.

Now, left with a chin filled with hair, I didn’t know how to conceal it.

What I tried to remove chin hairs

Tweezing

Tweezing was okay.

But it takes time and is quite painful.

Waxing

Waxing wasn’t a popular thing back then.

So it was pricey for me, and the distance to the spa wasn’t worth it.

I wouldn’t have been able to keep up with it.

Hair removal creams

So, I discovered hair removal creams.

Depilatory creams take out the hair completely.

But the effects last only five days to 1 week before the hair starts growing back.

How I’m dealing with female chin hair stigma:

The solution for me was to live my truth regardless of my flaw.

And not labeling myself with it.

I worked on my mind by saying, “Hey, you have no control over this thing.”

And “it’s okay if some people don’t want to be friends or be in a relationship with you because of the chin hair.”

And since I stopped bugging my head about it, I became so confident.

There were times l couldn’t get my choice of hair removal cream in the stores.

This means I’d have to go weeks without removing the chin hairs.

And, of course, I had so much hair grown all over my chin, which caught people’s attention.

And they would go, “so you have beards.”

And I’d answer confidently, “yes, I do.”

With my head up high and shoulders shrugged (like, whatchu gonna do about it style?).

I never allowed the chin hair to affect my happiness or self-esteem.

I am beautiful with or without it.

I only try to use hair removal cream to control it and make it less noticeable.

But if circumstances are out of my control, I cannot care for it…

I couldn’t be bothered but wear my flaws majestically.

Tips: How do you deal with growing chin hair as a woman?

  • If you’re going through the same thing, it’s not the end of the world.
  • People will bully you.
  • But how you react will determine if they’ll stop or continue.
  • You have more beautiful things to showcase on earth than to bother about hairs on your chin.
  • There’s no particular perfect standard of beauty.
  • Your confidence is the number one thing to work on, and you’re good!
  • Protect your confidence at all costs.
  • And please don’t take it too seriously when someone jokes about your chin hairs.
  • In fact, laugh at yourself (joke’s on them).
  • If you need counseling, get it as long as it will make you feel better.

Common questions about dealing with female chin hair

Is it good to shave female chin hair?

You can shave female chin hair if it works for you.

But we all know shaving causes redness and razor bumps.

And you don’t want to risk having bumps on your chin.

So waxing, sugaring, and laser hair removal are among the best ways to remove chin hair.

Waxing removes hair from the root.

And keeps your skin smooth for 4 to 6 weeks.

While laser hair removal is permanent.

But make sure to speak with a professional about laser chin hair removal.

What causes hair on the chin in females?

The hormone testosterone is responsible for the growth of chin hair in women.

Both men and women have testosterone.

But men have a higher amount, so they’re hairier than women.

However, some women have higher testosterone than others, which makes them grow chin hairs while others don’t.

But genetics also plays a role in chin hair growth in women.

So maybe someone in your family has female chin hair; that’s why you have it too.

You can control hormonal chin hair by:

  • Waxing
  • Sugaring
  • Plucking with tweezers
  • Hair removal creams and even
  • Laser hair removal.

Is it better for a woman to pluck or shave facial hair?

The best way to remove hair is what works for you.

For me, I prefer hair removal creams for chin hairs.

But you can remove fine facial hair with sugar wax or flawless facial hair remover.

Can you tweeze out chin hair?

You can tweeze them out if you have very few chin hairs.

But tweezing chin hair is painful and time-consuming.

So I’d suggest waxing, sugaring, or depilatory creams.

What happens if you keep plucking chin hair?

If you pluck your chin hair, it will grow back.

The growth is not because of the plucking.

It grows because hair keeps growing as long as you’re healthy.

Will plucking chin hair stop the growth?

Plucking chin hair doesn’t and won’t stop the growth.

But there are several methods to slow or stop the growth.

Plucking hair makes it grow back slowly because you’re removing the hair from the root.

But shaving only cuts the hair at the top of your skin.

So hair grows faster when you shave than pluck/tweeze.
