DIY Honey Castile Soap Recipe – How To
I love making melt-and-pour soaps.
But since I discovered castile melt-and-pour soap base, other soap bases have taken the back seat.
Well, just one. Lol.
The reason is that castile soap is mild; it rinses off well and doesn’t dry your skin.
So, in my free time, I create a new castile melt-and-pour soap recipe.
And yesterday, I tried a DIY honey castile soap recipe.
And it was the bomb.
So, let me show you how to make a honey castile melt-and-pour soap.

How to make DIY honey castile soap
Because I wanted to add some design to my DIY honey castile soap, I first added the mica powder into the soap mold.
This would help the bee design stand out on the soap bar.
I’m not sure what kind of soap mold you’re using.
But feel free to design your homemade honey castile soap how you like.
With that being said, these are the things and steps you need to follow to make a DIY honey castile soap:
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb castile soap melt and pour base
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- Light gold mica powder
- Dark gold mica powder

- Coconut oil
- Epsom salt
- Baking soda
- Glycerine soap base
- Castile melt and pour soap base.
- Liquid castile soap
- Mica powder
- Soap molds
- Essential oils
- Mason jars
- Candy thermometer
- Pyrex measuring cup
- Measuring cups and spoons
Tools
- Pyrex glass measuring cup
- Measuring cups
- Spatula
- Measuring spoons
- Chopping board
- Soap mold
- Kitchen knife
Instructions
Melt the soap base.
- First, cut the castile melt-and-pour soap base into cubes.
- Then, toss them into a Pyrex glass measuring cup and put it in the microwave.
- Melt at 30 seconds at a time.
- After 1 minute and 30 seconds, your soap base should be melted to liquid.
- Stir the soap with your spatula to check for unmelted bits.
- If there are some sold castile soap pieces, put the Pyrex measuring cup back in the microwave for another 20 to 30 seconds.
- Then check again.
- But this time, it should be completely melted.
- Next, add the honey and stir until combined.
- Then, add a pinch of gold mica powder to add some color.
- Stir again until you can see no bubbles of the mica powder.
Pour the soap
- Before you pour the soap into the mold, make sure the soap mold is sitting on a chopping board.
- The chopping board provides a stable platform for the soap to take shape.
- Also, it makes it easier to transfer the soap from your countertop into the fridge.
- Fill all the soap mold spaces; you should get six rectangular honey castile soap bars.
- Then, place the soap mold in the fridge to cool for hours.
- I left mine for more than 2 hours until it was completely set.
Pop the soap bars out of the mold.
Place your fingers on the edges to create a space to pop the honey castile soap bars out of the mold.
Then, you can quickly release the soap from the mold.

How to store your DIY honey castile soap
Castile soap has a long shelf life.
All you need to do is store the honey castile soap in a cool, dry place.
As usual, I always advise you make and use up your homemade soap.
Don’t store them for too long.
Especially since we don’t use preservatives.
And if you like a castile soap recipe on this blog, print out the recipe card and make a new batch whenever you want.
How to use it.
Use this honey castile soap like any other bathing soap.
So run water on your skin to make it soft and ready to wash.
Then, washcloth or exfoliating gloves and honey castile soap to wash your body.
Next, rinse until there are no traces of soap on your body.
The good thing is that this soap rinses off the skin without leaving any residue.
When you’ve rinsed your body, use a moisturizer afterward to keep your skin from drying.

What I discovered after using this DIY honey castile soap.
The first thing I discovered after using this honey castile soap is that it lathers well.
And the foam is quite rich and moisturizing.
Also, when rinsing off, the castile honey soap rinsed off thoroughly without drying my skin.
I went as far as using this DIY honey soap on my face.
It was mild on my facial skin.
I’ll wait till the next day to see if it causes any breakouts or irritation to my facial skin.

The honey fragrance in this soap is mild and pleasant.

Things you need to remember when making homemade honey castile soap bars
Mica powder design rinses off quickly.
If you used the mica powder to enhance the soap design, it would stay and look nice.
But as soon as water touches the soap, the mica powder starts falling off.
So, if you make yours like mine, expect your hands to be covered in gold mica powder. Lol.
But you can prevent that by mixing the mica powder into the soap mixture.
You can add essential oils.
Also, you can add essential oils for fragrance if you like.
But it’s not necessary.
Melt the soap for 30 seconds at a time.
To prevent the soap base from burning, please cut and melt the soap for 30 seconds at a time.
And make sure to use a microwave-safe container even if you don’t have the Pyrex measuring cup.
Make sure your tools are dry.
Lastly, ensure your tools and ingredients are water-free to get the best results when making this honey castile soap.
So dry your measuring cups, spoons, soap mold, etc.
Because water can contaminate your product and reduce the shelf life.
